Natalie likes science a lot. She does awesome in all subjects, but I think science is her favorite. She thinks it's so cool to do projects and experiments. We got her a science kit for Christmas.
Last year she did a very cool project for the science fair on conducting electricity and won 2nd place. She really really likes to win.
So this year we did the science fair again, even though I was not really feeling up for it. We picked a project that would be easy, and I warned her that it probably wouldn't win. We did fossils because she's been interested in them lately, and she even found a fossil on the playground a little while ago and was very excited about it.
She didn't win anything, and she said that she kinda felt like it was a waste of time to do it at all since she didn't win. She cracks me up. Hopefully she learned that the journey was it's own reward. She and I have fun doing projects together, and all the kids at the fair thought it was really cool.
I appreciated the opportunity to buy plaster of paris and realize the possibilities it holds. Especially when combined with modeling clay. We even made a fossil of nat's finger.
