Answering the Call

So this morning I'm playing with the girls in their room when I hear the call of nature. I opt for the get-out-quick-and-maybe-the-baby-won't-really-notice escape plan and exit the room with a quick, "be right back!" Mandie is mad and follows me, but I continue undeterred and manage to get into my bedroom and shut the door before she reaches it. I glance over and unfortunately the master bathroom is occupied by the master (heh) and it's just as well because as I turn around I find the doorknob being turned by smartie-pants Mandie.

So I open the door and pick her up, take her back to the room where we were playing (she thinks I'm taking her there because that's where she's pointing) and set her down. "Just play in here for a minute, k? Mommy has to go potty!"

So then I scoot over to the guest bathroom. Mandie has decided to stay with the toys and whine this time. I think I'm home free. I shut the door, and even lock it this time.

But wait. What is my shoe sticking to? I guess it could be worse, but it appears to be numerous mounds of a frightening concoction of vaseline and scotch tape.

Grab a washcloth. Clean floor. Clean shoe. Lecture the only child around who might have been the culprit.

Then I finally got to go potty.

The end.

It's a rare thing when I go to the bathroom without a child standing outside the locked door, crying at me. Ah, Mommyhood, it's a whole new world. The tape and Vaseline trick - that's a keeper.

Was the tape and vaseline from someone under 5? Just checking - I'm so sad Ella can open doors now, too! She and Mandie would get into loads of good fun together - I'm glad you finally got to use the potty!
