She wrote a song called "Magic on Main Street" on the piano (she didn't write down the notes or anything, just made little notes to herself to remember how to play it) and we recorded it on a cassette and sent it in. She put it off till the last minute and wrote it in one evening-- next year maybe she'll put some real work into it and have an even more impressive entry! She won at the school level and went on to district, and won honorable mention at the district level.
Here she is getting her medal at the district awards ceremony:

Very impressive medal and certificate:

And here's the song!

Natalie, you're AWESOME! Great Job! Love, Aunt Julie
Oh my Goodness!! What a fresh composition! That sounded so good. I wonder what the "musical notes to herself" look like.... she may be the only one to ever play this song!
WOohoo! Way to go, Natalie!
BRILLIANT!!! What a little smarty pants! I also love that she's so savvy to choose a category without much category! Hilarious. She must be getting so good at the piano! You're a good mom to have started her nice and early!
haha! She IS a smarty!! :) I'm glad you finally put it on! Tell her it's fabulous! and congratulations!
That was great, Natalie! I loved your song. And way to go on winning the Reflections contest at the school level!

Congrats Natalie! Way to be. Christine, I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again- but your kids are exceptional!
I saw Cherise's comment made under my name and I was like, "I don't remember saying that..."
But holy talent, Batman!! She's so legit! I love the song! Congrats, Nat!!
