a segue-free post

So as I mentioned briefly before, I'm going back to school. Jason's health keeps getting worse (he has chronic Epstein Barr, Fibromayalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Peripheral Neuropathy, and about 12 more conditions with names almost as impressive) making it very difficult for him to work, so we figured I might as well go full-time, and try to finish my schooling as fast as possible so I can start earning my keep! I really like the idea of being a marriage and family therapist, so that's what I'm working toward right now. I'm going to get my BA in psychology, with a minor in family development and sign language as my language emphasis. Then I'll get my master's in Social Work, which is apparently what you do if you want to be a licensed counselor.

So I started this summer, taking 4 classes/12 credits. I decided to try some online classes since that sounded like the best way to work around the kids, but I wasn't sure how well I'd do at that. It seemed easier to listen to a teacher than read a book. I almost never read textbooks in high school, so I didn't think I'd be very good at it. It's turned out GREAT though. I am definitely a fan of online classes; I love being able to work on it when I have time, get ahead when I want to, skip over the stuff that comes easy and spend extra time on the hard parts. I also took one class on campus, which was nice because it made me feel like a true student.

I have loved being back in school SO MUCH, I'm so glad I'm doing it! Lo and behold, I still have a brain! The years of pregnancy and mindless chores and baby talk didn't turn my mind to mush after all. In fact I'm finding school work waaaaay easier than I ever remember it being before. I must be growing up. I'm planning on doing 2 more semesters here at SUU, then I'll probably transfer to USU, because they have their whole psychology program online AND sign language classes which SUU is dropping this year AND lots of scholarship possibilities. (also they have the same letters, just in a different order. So, you know.)

So it's been a busy summer, but we're still trying to do some fun stuff. We had a little backyard camping trip last month. We had a campfire and the kids and I slept in a tent!

Oh, what was that? You'd like to see a totally cute pic of the baby I babysit? Well okay!

This is Corelle, I watch her 10-15 hours a week. Isn't she a doll? We love her.

Jen and Jasper were here in May and Jen took fabulous pictures of my kids!

We've also had two birthdays so far, Missy is 5 now and Josh is 9!
Next week we're driving up north for Kimi's wedding, I'm so excited!
Then it's time for school shopping, school starts on Aug. 20, Jessica's birthday! Melissa will be starting kindergarten, and Natalie will be starting middle school, so it's an exciting year for the redheads.

I'm still so psyched (haha) for you to be going back to school! What's "segue" anyway?
And fun cute pictures! I loved camping in the yard with Jessica back in the day. :)

I'm so glad you're diggin' school. How long do you think it will take you to get through all of it?

Reese, a segue is like a transition from subject to subject (seg-way) and I noticed that I didn't do that very well in this post! I'm glad that you're PSYCHED for me, I'm so glad I had to you help me figure it all out! (ps I'm doing what you suggested and getting the associates at suu before I transfer, the timing works out perfect!)

Annette if all goes as planned and I keep working through the summers, I'll be done with my bachelor's 2 years from now, after the summer semester of 2011. Then the master's will take 2 or 3 years, depending on if I end up working while I do it.

Christine, that's the best info-packed post ever! Jason's health woes sound very impressive indeed, and I didn't know you're transferring to USU...that IS a good thing it has the same letters as SUU; thing could have otherwise been disastrous.
And you guys are pretty cool to do a backyard campout!
Can you believe it's almost time for school shopping? I'm kind of choked up lately about Emma going to school all day. What a boob.
And sheesh, I still can't believe your kids are so old...Missy in kindergarten and Nat in middle school? That's pretty much just not true.

I know I'm late reading this but I have forgotten to read blogs lately!! (it's kimi's fault)
Loved the post and true it is information filled. I'm so glad you are in school and loving it again. I was always sad that you didn't get to do more when you were always such a good student. I LAUGHED so hard out LOUD at your comment about the USU/SUU letters! It was so sudden and random and caught me totally off guard! You are hilarious.
The campout looks like it was really fun andy why do I not have any of those pictures of the kids? You are years behind sending me a family picture. Repent!

I love that you said it will be a good year for the redheads. HA! And the USU thing. If you were dyslectic you might think you were going to the same school the whole time. Wow.

SO me and Grant and hitching a ride with my mom and dad for Kimi's wedding. Yay!

And we STILL haven't been to a play. I stink!
