I'd been wondering for quite some time whether Jason would be able baptize Jessica or not. A few months ago I would have said there was no way. More recently since he's been improving a little I was more hopeful. But then it turned out that he had his long-awaited shoulder surgery on August 27th. We probably should have rescheduled the baptism as soon as we found out the surgery date, but Jason didn't want to make Jessie wait.We didn't know how he'd end up feeling, physically or mentally (pain meds seriously mess with mental focus in case you didn't know...) so we asked one grandpa to be our stand-by baptizer and the other to be the stand-by confirmer. On Friday, Jason had Jess come in our room to show her what to do when getting baptized, and he was able to stand up and hold her and go through the motions. He said he would need help, but he was definitely going to do it. I was surprised when that made me tear up. I would have been okay if he wasn't able to do it, but I was so happy that he could!
Both grandpas ended up going down into the font with Jason and Jessica, one to support him and one to support her. It was so neat to watch.
Jason was also able to confirm her, she sat in one of the little primary chairs so he could stay in his wheelchair and still put his hands on her head.

After the baptism, everyone came over for dinner. We had lots of family here, it was so fun.

Then they both konked out

It was such a great day!

Aw, it kind of made me tear up reading about that! I'm so glad he got to do it. I don't know why this is the first time I've seen this post...you didn't just post it, didyou?
That almost made ME tear up. I wish I had been able to be there.
Yeah, why haven't I seen this before? I am so glad it all worked out so well and that Jess was baptized by 3 special people! lucky girl. I love her!
