Melissa turned TEN this year!
The night before her birthday she slept on the trampoline with Nat (their little tradition) and Jessica decorated their bedroom with Fablehaven and Harry Potter (Missy's favorite books) stuff that she had drawn and made. It was SO CUTE, but I kept forgetting to take pictures! She made a snitch and a broom and hung them from the ceiling fan, and there were fairies that looked like Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and a pond in the middle of the room, Muriel's rope, and unpopped popcorn spelling out "I'm Gran" on the floor. And other fairies and flowers too. SO CUTE.
Her birthday started out with this fabulous breakfast, made by Natalie:
Notice the little lime slices (Miss loves lime) garnishing everything
She wore THIS
all. day.
Nat made her cake too!
A few days later we had her party. My kids get a slumber party when they turn 10 (and that's it!)
While the girls were arriving I had to run my big kids to the church for mutual, and when I came back this is what I saw in the front yard.
Mandie and her friend had made a sign to welcome all the guests! How cute are they?
3 of the 4 girls she had invited came. It was nice to have a smaller slumber party. Nat's and Jessica's were both huge and a little overwhelming!
I just made frozen pizzas for dinner. When I was getting them out of the oven I had the genius idea to stick candles in the thick crust one, since we had already had her cake on her actual birthday. Unfortunately it turns out candles are made of wax, and wax melts when it gets hot. Who knew! The bottom half of each candle had completely liquefied by the time I had half of them lit. The girls were good sports and ate the blue spotted pizza anyway!
This was Missy's idea for a Fablehaven activity. They made Muriel's Shack out of pretzels, green frosting, and sprinkles.
One of the girls gave Missy the game "Headbanz" and they played that
Then they had popcorn and watched a movie, played Apples to Apples, and slept in a tent in the back yard.
I think the party was a success!
